Abstract :

The book selected to review is ‘The healthy workplace nudge: How healthy people, culture and buildings lead to high performance’ by authors Rex Miller, Philip Williams and Dr. Michael O’Neil (2018). This book was selected because we concur with the ideas discussed. It is a roadmap for workplace transformation backed by good research including statistics and cases studies. The book warns us about the dangers of our unhealthy worklives, proclaiming that “We are sleeping with a python” (Miller, Williams and O’Neil, 2018, p. 28), comparing the python with health-risks affecting people, businesses and nations. Moreover, the book discusses strategies to kill the python of unsafe workplace practices before it swallows us alive.
